UW-Madison GCRC: About Us

Overview

The University of Wisconsin - General Clinical Research Center (UW-GCRC) is a Medical School center devoted to clinical research. Funded by a National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant, UW Hospital and Clinics Authority, UW School of Medicine and Public Health, and UW Foundation, it is located in the UW Hospital and Clinics on D6/6. The primary objective of the UW-GCRC is to make available to medical investigators the resources necessary for the conduct of clinical research. The Center provides:

12 inpatient and outpatient rooms, and a 5-bay outpatient area,
support personnel including biostatisticians, specialized nurses, a research dietitian, and other specialized staff,
a sample processing facility,
funds for research-related patient care services,
a facility for computerized data managment and analysis, and
the supplies and equipment necessary to perform high quality clinical research studies on healthy subjects and patients with disease.

The UW-GCRC also supports pediatric studies that take place in the UW Children's Hospital and the Special Care Nursery at Meriter Hospital/Park in Madison, WI.
